Even the best industrial hoses develop issues over time. Catching these problems early saves you time and money. Here are the most frequent issues:
Leaks at connections
Leaks often happen when industrial hose fittings are loose or damaged. To fix this, turn off the system first. Tighten the fittings with a wrench—don’t over-tighten, as this can crack the hose. If fittings are rusted, replace them with new ones made for your industrial hose type.
Cracks or splits in the hose
Constant pressure, temperature changes, or chemical exposure cause industrial hoses to crack. Small cracks can turn into big leaks fast. If you spot a crack, replace the hose immediately—patching it is a temporary fix that won’t last. For high-use areas, switch to a heavy-duty industrial hose for extra durability.
Kinks that block flow
Kinks form when you bend an industrial hose too sharply or store it incorrectly. A kinked hose stops fluid/gas flow and weakens the rubber. To fix this, straighten the hose and use hose clamps to hold it in place. When storing, coil the hose loosely—never twist it.
Abrasion damage to the cover
Hoses that rub against concrete, metal, or machinery get worn down. The cover thins, and the inner tube becomes exposed. To fix this, wrap the damaged area with a hose protector. For long-term solutions, move the industrial hose to a spot where it won’t rub, or use an abrasion-resistant industrial hose.
